Our Story

Our ProU journey started beside a hospital bed and led us to the brightest scientific minds and through the best Irish farms, ending with something that does good, while tasting great.

Numerous hospital visits to different family members during 2013 and 2014 led us to question the need for specialised nutritional products to mitigate the impact of age-related conditions, especially for those in their 40s and 50s.

When the thought wouldn’t leave us, we sought the opinion of renowned dietitian Richelle Flanagan.

She agreed that there was a place for fortified foods that provided extra nutrients such as protein, calcium and Vitamin D for bone and muscle health in adult consumers. She continues to provide nutritional guidance along our journey.

Similar relationships with Bord Bia, Teagasc and Enterprise Ireland helped us believe in ourselves, while a 20-year career with Bord Bia ensured we knew where to source the best ingredients.

Now, with milk from the famous Dunne farm of Killowen and nutrition devised by Glanbia’s leading minds going into every pot of Pro U we hope U enjoy the result as much as we enjoyed getting to it.

Our Consultant Dietitian

Richelle Flanagan has provided nutritional consultancy in the development of ProU as well as providing evidence-based information regarding the nutritional content of our new product.

Richelle Flanagan is the founder of NutritionWise who provide evidence-based, unbiased nutrition & dietetic advice to the public, businesses and NGOs. On top of an undergraduate degree in physiology, a masters in nutrition & dietetics and a postgraduate certificate in allergy, Richelle has a wealth of experience in working to help people better understand and self-manage their health through nutrition, behaviour and lifestyle change. She is a member and board member of the Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Institute.

BRC Accreditation

The British Retail Consortium (BRC) is the leading trade association for UK retailing. Although the BRC food safety standard began in the UK, it is now recognized as a global standard. There are over 17,000 BRC certified sites worldwide, and a large network of BRC certification bodies in 90 countries. ProU Yogurt’s manufacturer Killowen Farm Co. Wexford is accredited with an A+ Standard Certificate.

Love Irish Food

The Love Irish Food logo is aimed to let shoppers know that a brand is truly an Irish brand that adheres to the strict criteria of the Love Irish Food association, by guaranteeing that the product is manufactured in the REPUBLIC OF IRELAND and importantly that the brand uses ingredients from Ireland where these are available.
